Laura Sweeney McCarthy is a member of the Global Prairie senior leadership team, heading the firm’s Public Affairs, Issues Management & Corporate Reputation Practice Group.

Prior to joining Global Prairie, Laura served as the senior spokesperson and media strategist for the Criminal Division at the United States Department of Justice. Laura directed communications and media strategy for significant law enforcement and legal issues, while also providing strategic counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division.  Prior to her work for the U.S. Justice Department, Laura was a leader on the Corporate Communications team at Omnicom and was a media strategist for the National League of Cities.

Laura is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a degree in government and international relations. She currently serves on the boards of the Child Protection Center (CPC) and the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA). Laura and her husband Bill have two young sons.
