Laura Sweeney McCarthy is a member of the Global Prairie senior leadership team, heading the firm’s Public Affairs and Issues Management Practice Group. Laura’s work at Global Prairie focuses on sectors with multiple influencers, including agriculture, education, energy and health care.

With more than fifteen years of advertising, marketing and communications experience, Laura’s passion is people. Prior to joining Global Prairie, Laura served as the senior spokesperson and communications strategist for the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. Laura directed communications for significant law enforcement and legal issues, while also providing strategic counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division on internal and external communications. Prior to her work for the Criminal Division, Laura served as a communications and media strategist for the National League of Cities and supported the corporate communications team at Omnicom.

Laura is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a degree in government and international relations. She currently serves on the boards of the Child Protection Center (CPC) and the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA). Laura and her husband Bill have two young sons.
